The Cambridge River Arts Festival first began in 1974 when a group of artists charged themselves with the development of an annual event that would showcase and celebrate the rich artistic traditions and activity that make Cambridge such a unique and exciting place. Each year this event is held to support local artists and engage audiences with a dazzling array of visual and performing arts.
After speaking with each of these three artists from The SoWa Artist Guild, it became clear the importance of having a creative community to belong to. Although some artists prefer a solitary existence, the majority want to create and belong somewhere. What the SoWa Artist Guild has built up over the years is a thriving art community where artist welcome and support each other, but also create their own unique work and personalities.
